Date Format in EXCEL

WPS Spreadsheet could be an alternative to Microsoft Office Excel. It includes 100's of built-in formulas, pivot tables, etc. Date formats display date and time serial numbers as date values, which are commonly used in our daily life.

· 1. What is the date format?

Dates are stored as integers in a table, the way it represented as a date is only because of the set of cell format. The default day is 1990/1/1, which is the start of every other date. For example, 2021/12/10 is stored as number 44,540, which means it is 44,540 days after 1990/1/1.

· 2. The date format interface.

You can set the date format in the Home tab > Number format > More Number Formats or by the shortcut key Ctrl+1.

Category allows you to set the cell to other formats; Sample is the window for you to preview the formats you set. You can customize the way you want the dates to display at Type. Dates formats also vary across countries, you can adjust that according to your needs at Regional settings.

· 3. How to customize dates?

Not satisfied with these internally installed formats? Lets move to Custom at Category, where you have much more options to customize the date format. Here are some codes that help you have a better understanding.

Example: 2021/12/9-Thursday
