PDF to Word Converter Q&A

Q: How to convert a PDF file to a WORD document?

A: Open WPS Writer > Special Features > PDF to Word Converter.

You could convert a PDF within 5 pages for free. To convert PDF containing more than 5 pages you need to purchase WPS Office. Click to see pricing and buy

Note:

  1. Scanned PDF or picture format PDF cannot be recognized. Before deciding whether to buy, we recommend you to convert the first 5 pages to see how it works.

  2. The effect of the convert will not be affected whether you have purchased WPS Office or not.

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Initialization failed. Please retry or contact WPS customer service.”?

A: Please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Start menu, input “%appdata%” in the search box and click Enter key.

  2. ind “kpdf2wordsdk.msi” in this folder “kingsoft\wps\addons\pool\win-i386\kpdf2wordsdk_1.0.0.1”

  3. Double click the above MSI package to install.

  4. Open PDF to Word Converter after installation.

Note: If there is nothing under the “kpdf2wordsdk_1.0.0.1” folder, please contact our customer service.

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Initialization failed. Another MSI application is in progress (Another MSI installer is running)”?

A: Please check if there is another installation is in progress. If there is, please reload PDF to Word Converter after the other installation is completed. If there isn’t, please restart your computer to reload PDF to Word Converter.

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Initialization failed. MSI installation failed.”?

A: This is due to the lack of relevant components in your system. You need to repair the system or install patches. Please refer to: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa372835(v=vs.85).aspx

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Initialization failed. System MSI service is disabled.”?

A: You need to enable MSI service so as to install the add-in. Here are some solutions. Solution 1:

  1. Go to Start menu, input “gpedit.msc” in the search box and click Enter key.

  2. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer.

  3. Find Disable Windows Installer and check if it is set to “Enabled”. If it is, please change it to “Not Configured” or “Disabled”.

  4. Restart your computer.

Solution 2:

  1. Go to Start menu, input “regedit” in the search box and click Enter key.

  2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > Installer > Products, find the “4080110900063D11C8EF10054038389C” folder and delete it. If there are several same folders of “4080110900063D11C8EF10054038389C”, delete the one without subitems.

Solution 3:

  1. Go to Start menu, input “regedit” in the search box and click Enter key.

  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > msiserver

  3. Find “Start” item under that folder, change the data to “3”.

  4. Restart your computer.

Q: What should I do when I get a reminder to enter the password?

A: It means your document is encrypted. Please enter the password to continue the conversion. The add-in itself will not encrypt the document and it is unable to decode the encrypted documents.

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Fail to convert because XXX.pdf is too large”?

A: You need to use Adobe Acrobat to compress the document size before convert it to WORD document.

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Fail to convert XXX.pdf ”?

A: Maybe it’s because the document is too large or has too many pages. You may try to convert by page range, for example 1-100, 101-200 (based on your own situation).

Q: What should I do when I get the message “Fail to save the document. The same document exists in this location”?

A: Please save the document in RTF format and try again.

Q: What should I do if there are images floating above the text?

A: Go to Settings > OCR File, select “Only Retain Text”.

Q: What should I do if the document is full of messy code after conversion?

A: This is because your document is encrypted internally, which prevents our add-in from extracting the content.
