Apply conditional formatting to data
In this lesson, we've learned how to use the Conditional Formatting function.
1. What is “Conditional Formatting,” and what is its main function?
- Using the conditional formatting function, you can pre-set cell format or graphic effect and automatically apply them to the target cell as the specified conditions are met.
2. How to use Conditional Formatting?
- Select the data area and click the Home tab> Conditional Formatting, the system provides five different built-in formatting effects respectively, Highlight Cell Rules, Top/Bottom Rules, Data Bars, Color Scales, and Icon Sets. Just check the format effect according to your needs.
- Both two effects Highlight Cells Rules and Top/Bottom Rules can quickly highlight cells and draw people's attention to the eligible data. Data Bars, Color Scales, and Icon Sets enable data visualization, allowing people to compare better and differentiate data.
3. How to create custom rules?
- When you have special needs, you can create custom conditional formatting by clicking the Home tab> Conditional Formatting> New rule. In this course, we've shared a common case at work, which is using AND function to create new rules.
