One of the benefits of removing passwords from excel files is that it can help to speed up the process of opening and using the file. This is because password-protected files often take longer to open as the computer has to verify the password before allowing access.

Process to Remove Password from Excel File: Read only file

1. Open the file which is protected by the password. Once you open the file if you click on the any cell the message will appear that this is read only file.

2. Now click on the unprotect sheet option which is circled in the following picture. When you click the unprotect sheet the pop-up window will appear which will demand the password now enter the correct password and click ok the sheet will be opened.

3. Now as you enter the password and the file is open but the cells are still locked if you notice the cell lock will be grey.

4. Now last step is just click on the lock cell and it will be unlocking now the password from you excel sheet is removed.

Process to Remove Password from Excel File: workbook

1. Open the file which is protected by the password. Once you open the file if you click on the any cell the message will appear that this is read only file.

2. Now click on the unprotect workbook option which is circled in the following picture. When you click the unprotect work the pop-up window will appear which will demand the password.

3. Now enter the correct password and click ok the workbook will be opened. And now you can edit the your document or excel file.
