Create a Modern Page in Your Subsite
Since modern web parts cannot be added to classic pages, creating a new modern page is the best way to utilize components like Site Activity and Quick Links.
SharePoint subsites sometimes default to classic page experiences depending on how they were initially provisioned. Classic pages do not support modern web parts natively. By replacing the classic page with a new modern page, you gain access to the updated web part gallery.
Open your browser and log into the specific SharePoint subsite where you want to add the web parts.
Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner of the SharePoint navigation bar, then select 'Add a page' from the dropdown menu to initiate a modern page creation.
Select a layout template (such as Blank, Visual, or Basic text) for your new modern page and click 'Create page' in the bottom right.
Hover your mouse over the page canvas and click the '+' icon to open the modern web part gallery. You will now see and be able to select 'Site Activity', 'Quick Links', and other modern components.
Once you have configured your web parts, click the 'Publish' button at the top right to make the page live. You can optionally set this new modern page as your subsite's default homepage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my Quick Links and Site Activity web parts missing in SharePoint?
These are modern web parts designed exclusively for modern SharePoint pages. If they are missing from your web part gallery, it is highly likely that you are currently editing a classic SharePoint page, which does not support them.
Can I convert a classic SharePoint page directly to a modern page?
SharePoint does not offer a native one-click button to automatically transform a classic page into a modern page. You will typically need to create a new modern page from scratch and manually rebuild the content using modern web parts.
Are modern web parts available on older SharePoint servers?
Modern web parts and the modern page experience are fully supported in SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365) and SharePoint Server 2019 or newer. If you are using older on-premises versions like SharePoint 2013 or 2016, you are restricted to the classic experience and classic web parts.
