Problem Description: Import Excel Formatted Report
I have an existing report in Excel. I'm trying to recreate that same report in Access but the formatting is the issue because Excel can print 1 page by 1 page and force all of the font and formatting to resize to fit on one page, which Access cannot. So, how can I import a Excel report into Access? Currently, when I try to get everything to fit, the font is so small, it is very hard to read and since Access doesn't allow you to zoom on the screen and I am not using a 72" monitor, it just adds to the frustration. I know all of my data will fit on one page but since I do not know what size the final font size was for my Excel report (because Excel can print 1 page by 1 page and resize all of the font). There's has to be a easier way.
Quick Answer for Data Import Quick Fix
Import the Excel spreadsheet into an Access table rather than linking it.
Likely Causes Behind Excel Failure Patterns
The Microsoft account or license context may not match the purchase or device.
Cached credentials, outdated builds, or damaged local components can trigger data import & export.
A file-specific corruption or add-in conflict can mimic a broader application failure.
Recommended Solution: Repairing Excel Startup Issues
When to use this: Apply these steps when the symptoms match and you can access the relevant Microsoft account or administrator.
Ensure fields are set to appropriate types, using Memo fields for text longer than 255 characters.
After importing, manually adjust formatting, font sizes, and layout in Access, then use print preview to verify the output.
Alternative Solutions for Fallback Options for Data Import
Retry the Microsoft-side steps after restarting the app and device.
Test the same action in a private browser session or a new blank file to isolate account vs file issues.
Capture exact error text and screenshots before contacting Microsoft Support or your administrator.
Working with WPS Office: Editing Files in WPS During Data Import

WPS Office cannot replace Microsoft account, activation, or cloud fixes for this scenario. It remains one of the best free Microsoft Office-compatible alternatives for opening and editing local files.
Download and install WPS Office from the official website.
Open local Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files in the matching WPS app.
Save a working copy locally while Microsoft-side issues are resolved.
Return to Microsoft Office after the primary fix succeeds.
If you need a practical local workspace in the meantime, try WPS Office.
Prevention Tips for Smooth Excel Device Transfers
Keep one primary Microsoft account for subscriptions and Office sign-in.
Install updates for Office and Windows before retrying failed workflows.
Back up important files before repair, reset, or reinstall actions.
Document exact error messages before the next troubleshooting attempt.
