Problem Description: Re Enable Disabled Device
I just rebuilt my computer with a new MB and CPU. After the build, I went to open Excel and Office and they told me that the product was not registered/activated...something like that. I assumed that Office was seeing the newly built PC as a different device, so under Devices I disabled this device and then tried to reactivate Office. Now it's telling me that this device has been disabled. When I go back in and look at my devices, there is no option to re-enable this device. This is just a personal account. There is no IT Admin to contact - that would be me. I have no idea what Azure is and have never used it. Why can't I just re-enable my device?!?! This is extremely frustrating. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this? Thank you.
Quick Answer for Activation Problems Quick Fix
To re-enable a disabled device for Microsoft 365 apps, sign in to the Azure portal at portal.azure.com, select Microsoft Entra ID, navigate to Devices, search for your device, and select Enable.
Likely Causes Behind Office Failure Patterns
The Microsoft account or license context may not match the purchase or device.
Cached credentials, outdated builds, or damaged local components can trigger activation problems.
A file-specific corruption or add-in conflict can mimic a broader application failure.
Recommended Solution: Transferring Office License Safely
When to use this: Apply these steps when the symptoms match and you can access the relevant Microsoft account or administrator.
If the device was deleted, re-register it by going to Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School, selecting your account and choosing Disconnect, then selecting Connect and signing in again.
If unfamiliar with Azure or access issues arise, seek more specific guidance.
Alternative Solutions for Fallback Options for Activation Problems
Retry the Microsoft-side steps after restarting the app and device.
Test the same action in a private browser session or a new blank file to isolate account vs file issues.
Run Quick Repair, then Online Repair from Programs and Features if the app still fails.
Capture exact error text and screenshots before contacting Microsoft Support or your administrator.
Working with WPS Office: Editing Files in WPS During Activation Problems

WPS Office cannot replace Microsoft account, activation, or cloud fixes for this scenario. It remains one of the best free Microsoft Office-compatible alternatives for opening and editing local files.
Download and install WPS Office from the official website.
Open local Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files in the matching WPS app.
Save a working copy locally while Microsoft-side issues are resolved.
Return to Microsoft Office after the primary fix succeeds.
If you need a practical local workspace in the meantime, try WPS Office.
Prevention Tips for Smooth Office Device Transfers
Keep one primary Microsoft account for subscriptions and Office sign-in.
Install updates for Office and Windows before retrying failed workflows.
Back up important files before repair, reset, or reinstall actions.
Buy Office from official channels and record the redemption account.
