Problem Description: Login Work School Account
I have a work account (own company) and want to login to my mailbox. I am asked to re-enter my password, which I did succesfully. As a next step, I need to authenticate via Microsoft authenticator. Different than before, my Microsoft authenticator doesn't give any alert and seems to be down. So I am trying to receive a verification code. But the verification code is not visible and if I want to create a password key or something like that in the authentication app, the app asks me to enter the verification code... I already tried a lot of things, but feels like I am looping and can't resolve the issue by myself. As a result, I still don't have access to my mailbox.. ps: I am a 1 person company so can't contact my IT departement (as mentionned in a lot of articles). Can anyone please help me?? Many thanks in advance. **[Moderator note: personal info removed]**
Quick Answer for MFA Quick Fix
Your issue has been resolved.
Likely Causes Behind Office Failure Patterns
The Microsoft account or license context may not match the purchase or device.
Cached credentials, outdated builds, or damaged local components can trigger mfa & verification issues.
A file-specific corruption or add-in conflict can mimic a broader application failure.
Recommended Solution: Installing Office on a New PC
When to use this: Apply these steps when the symptoms match and you can access the relevant Microsoft account or administrator.

Alternative Solutions for Fallback Options for MFA
Retry the Microsoft-side steps after restarting the app and device.
Test the same action in a private browser session or a new blank file to isolate account vs file issues.
Capture exact error text and screenshots before contacting Microsoft Support or your administrator.
Working with WPS Office: Editing Files in WPS During MFA

WPS Office cannot replace Microsoft account, activation, or cloud fixes for this scenario. It remains one of the best free Microsoft Office-compatible alternatives for opening and editing local files.
Download and install WPS Office from the official website.
Open local Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files in the matching WPS app.
Save a working copy locally while Microsoft-side issues are resolved.
Return to Microsoft Office after the primary fix succeeds.
If you need a practical local workspace in the meantime, try WPS Office.
Prevention Tips for Smooth Office Device Transfers
Keep one primary Microsoft account for subscriptions and Office sign-in.
Install updates for Office and Windows before retrying failed workflows.
Back up important files before repair, reset, or reinstall actions.
Register more than one MFA method and keep recovery contacts current.
