How to use $ to lock cell in excel

If you wish to prevent editing of cells, you can lock them in Excel.

 Lock all cells using $ in excel online, 2016 and 2019

 All cells are locked by default. However, unless you safeguard the worksheet, locking cells has no effect.

1.Just select all cells.

2.Format Cells can be selected by right-clicking or by pressing CTRL + 1.You can check to see if all cells are locked by default on the Protection tab.

3.Click on ok or on cancel.Protect the sheet.Now that all cells are locked. Right-click on the worksheet tab and select Unprotect Sheet to remove the protection from a worksheet. The Excel file that can be downloaded has the password easy.

Lock specific cells in excel

1.Unlock all cells in Excel before locking any particular ones. Lock particular cells next. Protect the sheet lastly.Just select all cells.

2.Format Cells can be selected by right-clicking or by pressing CTRL + 1.Uncheck the Locked check box on the Protection tab, then click OK.

3.Choose cell A1 and A2 as an example.

4.Format Cells can be selected by right-clicking or by pressing CTRL + 1.Select the Locked check box on the Protection tab, then click OK.

5.Once again, before the worksheet is protected, locking cells has no effect.Protect the sheet.Cells A1 and A2 are now locked. You must unprotect the sheet in order to edit these cells. The Excel file that can be downloaded has the password easy. All more cells are still editable.

Lock formula cells in excel

1.Unlock all cells before locking any that have formulas. Lock each formula cell after that. Protect the sheet lastly.Just select all cells.

2.Format Cells can be selected by right-clicking or by pressing CTRL + 1.Uncheck the Locked check box on the Protection tab, then click OK.

3.Click Find & Select under the Editing group on the Home tab.

4.Click on Go To Special.

5.Select formulas and then click on ok.

6.Excel chooses every formula cell.

7.Press CTRL+1.Select the Locked check box on the Protection tab, then click OK.

Users cannot view the formula in the formula bar when they choose cell A2, B2, C2, or D2 if the Hidden check box is also selected.Once again, before the worksheet is protected, locking cells has no effect.Protect the sheet.The formula cells are now all locked. You must unprotect the sheet in order to edit these cells. The Excel file that can be downloaded has the password easy. All more cells are still editable.
