Optical character recognition (OCR) is practical to extract text information from a picture,This video will share how to use the OCR function in PDF.

Let's start,Click the Tools tab, and click the OCR button, In the pop-up dialog box, we can click or drag to import pictures and start the recognition.

WPS Office provides three conversion methods, namely, Extract text only, Convert to Word, and Convert to Excel.

If you just want to extract the text from the picture without retaining the original text format, click Extract text only, and you're done!

If you want to keep the text format and layout, you can try Convert to Word.

Click Screen Capture to take a screenshot of a selected area, and select Convert to Word and choose the save path. Then click Confirm. 

We can find that the extracted text is accurate, and font, font size, and typography are retained.

Let's move on to the next case, which is a picture of a course schedule. If you want to extract text and keep the table format, you can clickConvert to Excel”, Then click Confirm.

We can see that the converted table remains almost identical to the original layout.

In addition to the above methods, there are two other ways to start the OCR function. First, click OCR Area, where you can capture the area you need to extract the text at will, click the drop-down menu, and you can choose Screen grab OCR or Hide current window when grabbing OCR.

Second, Drag and drop with the mouse in the area where the text needs to be extracted, you can also select the OCR function in the shortcut menu on the right.
