Problem Description: No Help Fraudulent Account
For years Microsoft has been charging me for an office account tied to an email address that I do not have access to, and apparently Bank of America and Microsoft have some deal that if my credit card is cancelled and reissued with bank of America again, they automatically let Microsoft update me new information with no authorization from me! Microsoft says since I do not have access to the email address, they can not change any billing information. Why does this unknown email address have a right to my credit card, but I do not have the right to cancel it because Microsoft "needs to protect the privacy of its users"? This is absolute theft from Microsoft and I can not help but feel Microsoft is aware of these issues and making sure they continue to occur. There is nothing in place to help me in this situation and now I have to decide if I should cancel all of my accounts with Bank of America or just let Microsoft continue stealing from me. Please, tell me their are other options to Microsoft office
Quick Answer for Office Won't Complete Task
Since Microsoft enforces strict privacy policies that require access to the registered email for account modifications, you must initiate an official identity verification process to regain control.
Likely Causes Behind Common License Triggers
The Microsoft account or license context may not match the purchase or device.
Cached credentials, outdated builds, or damaged local components can trigger license & subscription issues.
A file-specific corruption or add-in conflict can mimic a broader application failure.
Recommended Solution: Installing Office on a New PC
When to use this: Apply these steps when the symptoms match and you can access the relevant Microsoft account or administrator.
Contact Microsoft 365 Support directly to report the fraudulent activity and request assistance with account recovery or billing information updates.
Simultaneously, reach out to your financial institution, such as Bank of America, to dispute unauthorized charges and revoke payment authorization for Microsoft services.
Document all transaction records and communication logs to support both the bank dispute and the Microsoft support case.
If standard recovery methods fail due to compromised credentials, explicitly request escalation to Microsoft’s fraud investigation team, who can verify ownership through alternative means and secure the account before processing any billing changes or cancellations.
Alternative Solutions for Broader License Workarounds
Retry the Microsoft-side steps after restarting the app and device.
Test the same action in a private browser session or a new blank file to isolate account vs file issues.
Capture exact error text and screenshots before contacting Microsoft Support or your administrator.
Working with WPS Office: Using WPS While Office Is Unavailable

WPS Office cannot replace Microsoft account, activation, or cloud fixes for this scenario. It remains one of the best free Microsoft Office-compatible alternatives for opening and editing local files.
Download and install WPS Office from the official website.
Open local Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files in the matching WPS app.
Save a working copy locally while Microsoft-side issues are resolved.
Return to Microsoft Office after the primary fix succeeds.
If you need a practical local workspace in the meantime, try WPS Office.
Prevention Tips for Avoiding Repeat License
Keep one primary Microsoft account for subscriptions and Office sign-in.
Install updates for Office and Windows before retrying failed workflows.
Back up important files before repair, reset, or reinstall actions.
Register more than one MFA method and keep recovery contacts current.
