Problem Description: Unable Login 2Fa Ms
I am the Global Admin for a small business that subscribes to Microsoft 365 services. I need to login in order to update billing info, but I'm stuck in a loop with the MS Authenticator App. I've recently upgraded to a new phone, and apparently the keys did not transfer over to the new phone. I am not offered any alternate means of secondary authentication. I need someone to help reset my Authenticator in order to manage my business (Data Protection Team?). The automated phone system creates tickets, but I never get any responses. I can provide any info needed to get back going - please help! Thank you, Jeremy New
Quick Answer for MFA Quick Fix
If another Global Administrator or Authentication Administrator exists in your tenant, they can remove your Microsoft Authenticator app and force MFA re-registration.
Likely Causes Behind Office Failure Patterns
The Microsoft account or license context may not match the purchase or device.
Cached credentials, outdated builds, or damaged local components can trigger mfa & verification issues.
A file-specific corruption or add-in conflict can mimic a broader application failure.
Recommended Solution: Transferring Office License Safely
When to use this: Apply these steps when the symptoms match and you can access the relevant Microsoft account or administrator.
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center, navigate to Identity > Users > All users, select your account, and choose Authentication methods.
Click Require re-registration for MFA to delete existing authentication methods, prompting you to set up MFA again upon next login.
If the authenticator is linked to an old device, visit the Security info page, locate the outdated device entry, and delete it.
Should you be the sole Global Administrator and completely locked out, you must contact Microsoft Support directly using the official global customer service phone number directory for your region to regain access.
Alternative Solutions for Fallback Options for MFA
Retry the Microsoft-side steps after restarting the app and device.
Test the same action in a private browser session or a new blank file to isolate account vs file issues.
Capture exact error text and screenshots before contacting Microsoft Support or your administrator.
Working with WPS Office: Editing Files in WPS During MFA

WPS Office cannot replace Microsoft account, activation, or cloud fixes for this scenario. It remains one of the best free Microsoft Office-compatible alternatives for opening and editing local files.
Download and install WPS Office from the official website.
Open local Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF files in the matching WPS app.
Save a working copy locally while Microsoft-side issues are resolved.
Return to Microsoft Office after the primary fix succeeds.
If you need a practical local workspace in the meantime, try WPS Office.
Prevention Tips for Smooth Office Device Transfers
Keep one primary Microsoft account for subscriptions and Office sign-in.
Install updates for Office and Windows before retrying failed workflows.
Back up important files before repair, reset, or reinstall actions.
Register more than one MFA method and keep recovery contacts current.
FAQs About MFA Help Topics
Can WPS Office fix this mfa & verification issues issue directly? Only when the WPS steps match the formatting or file task. Account, activation, and cloud issues stay on the Microsoft side.
Should I reinstall Office before trying these steps? Not first. Confirm account, license, and the exact error before reinstalling.
What should I send to Microsoft Support? The affected account email, device type, Office version, exact error text, and screenshots with personal data hidden.
