How to Move or Duplicate a Microsoft Form to Another SharePoint Page
Question details
The user needs to move an existing Microsoft Form to a different SharePoint group or page, but the direct move option is unavailable for their group form.

- Product
- Microsoft Forms
- Device & OS
- not provided
- Scenario
- Attempting to migrate or copy an existing group form to a new SharePoint page or group destination.
- Observed behavior
- The 'Move' option is missing or disabled for the existing group form, preventing the user from relocating it even if they own the SharePoint group page.
Verify that you have owner or edit permissions for the original Microsoft Form, and note that duplicating a form will not carry over any previously collected user responses.
Duplicate the Form via a Template Link
Use the Share as Template feature to create a duplicate of your form structure, which can then be assigned to your desired SharePoint group.
Because Microsoft currently disables the direct move feature for forms already assigned to a group, you must use a duplication workaround. This involves generating a template link and creating a fresh copy of the form.
Open your original Microsoft Form. Click on the ellipsis (...) menu located in the top right corner of the screen, and select 'Collaborate'.
In the menu, click on 'Share as Template', then select 'Get a link to duplicate'. Copy the generated URL to your clipboard.
Open a new browser window or tab, paste the copied URL into the address bar, and press Enter. Click the 'Duplicate it' button when prompted on the screen.
Once the form is duplicated, you become the owner of this new copy. You can now use the 'Move' option on the new form to successfully transfer it to your target SharePoint group or page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the move option missing for my Microsoft Form?
Microsoft currently restricts the direct 'Move' feature for forms that have already been assigned to a specific group. To relocate a group form, you must use the 'Share as Template' duplicate workaround instead.
Will my existing responses transfer when I duplicate the form?
No. When you duplicate a form using a template link, only the questions, logic, and structure are copied. Previous responses and analytics will remain permanently attached to the original form.
What should I do if the Collaborate option is not visible?
If you cannot see the 'Collaborate' or 'Share as Template' options, your organization's IT administrator may have disabled external sharing or template creation policies for Forms. You will need to contact your IT admin to request permission adjustments.
