When the cell has been written as text, it is one method that numbers can be inserted as text. This results in values being input as text values, whether they are numerical or not.

It is possible to quickly tell whether text formatting has been applied to a cell.

Go to the Home tab after selecting the cell. In the dropdown menu located in the Number part of the ribbon, you can check if Text is the chosen formatting.

Make use of the ISTEXT Function to convert number to text:

You may use a function in Excel to determine if a value is a text value or not.

ISTEXT ( input )

The value, cell, or range that you wish to check to see if it contains text is the ISTEXT (input) input.

If the value is text, the ISTEXT function will return TRUE; otherwise, it will return FALSE.

=ISTEXT ( B3 )

You can see that the ISTEXT function is being used to check whether the cells contain text in this instance. When a text value is found, the method returns TRUE.

ISNUMBER ( input )

The value, cell, or range that you wish to check to see if it is a number is the input for the ISNUMBER function.

The value, cell, or range that you wish to check to see if it is a number is the input.

Similarly, you may use the ISNUMBER function to determine whether a value is a number. It accepts a single input and outputs either FALSE or TRUE depending on whether the value is a number.

Here, the ISNUMBER function is used to test the same data. When no number is found, the method returns FALSE.

Status Bar to convert number to text:

Using the status bar is another easy approach to check a group of cells to determine if they are all text.

Excel will display certain fundamental statistics like the total, min, max, and average in the status bar when you pick a range of numerical numbers.

These fundamental statistics won't be computed if they are all entered as text values and are all numbers. The only thing you will see on the status bar is the number of cells.

You will see that the entire set of data are displayed in the status bar if even one of the cells contains a numerical value.
