You have option to set alignment and location of page numbers according to our choice. Multiple locations are available for page numbers like at the top or bottom of the page and top-right corner, bottom-center.

How to add page numbers in word document in Windows or Mac
1.Open a word document Home tab is already open.
2.Go to the insert tab. Ribbon panel will open.
3.Put your cursor on page number option and click it.
4.Drop box will appear with ten options. Click Header Left option.
5.Location of page number will be header left side of page. As shown in picture.
6.Now clickHeader Middle option.
7.Page number will be added at middle of header.
8.Now click Header Right option.
9.Page number will be added at right side of header.
10.Now click Header inside option.
11.Location of page number will be set at left most side of header of page.
12.Now click Header Outside option.
13.Page number will add on a page at right most side of header.
14.Now click Footer left option.
15.In this option page number will be added at left side of footer.
16.Now click Footer Middleoption.
17.Page number will be at middle of footer.
18.Click Footer rightoption.
19.Page number will add on right most side of footer.
20.Now click Footer inside option.
21.Page number will add at left most side of footer.
22.Now click Footer Outsideoption.
23.Location of page number will be at right most side of footer.
How to add customize page number in word document in Windows or Mac
1.Go to the inserttab. Open page number option.
2.ClickInsert page number present at bottom of drop down menu.
3.Dialogue box will appear it has multiple fields. These options let you set location, alignment and sequence of page numbers in word document.
4.Go to Format field and click it. By setting these options you can set format of page number.
5.Now clickPosition field. Drop down menu has many options. You can set location of page number with these options.
6.If your document has multiple sections, and you want to set page number of each section, then go to continuous from previous section option and checked it. It will start page numbers from where page numbers of previous section ended.
7.In Start at option write number, from where you want your page number start.
8.In Apply tofield we have three options. If you checkedentire document then page numbers will add on entire document.
9.If you checked from current page then page number will add from current page you are at.
10.If you checkedcurrent section, then page number will start from current section you are at. Now Click ok
