How to Compress Images with WPS Office

When creating reports, presentations, or academic papers, inserting high-resolution images often leads to large file sizes. This makes documents difficult to share via email or consumes excessive storage space. Manually using external image compressor tools is an extra step that disrupts your workflow. WPS Office integrates a compression feature to solve this directly within the document editor.

Step 1: Select an Image

Select the image you wish to compress in your WPS document.

Step 2: Open compress tool

Click the image. After clicking, the compress toolbar will appear on the image. Click the toolbar to compress the image.

Step 3: Single or Batch Processing

The tool will default to compressing the currently selected image. To process multiple images at once, click the Batch button at the top of the panel.

Step 4: Open Settings Panel

The compression settings panel will open on the right side of your screen.

Choose your preferred compression method from the options on the right:

High-Quality Compression:

Select Smart Balance for optimal size reduction while preserving clarity, or Custom to define a target file size or resolution.

Low-Quality Compression:

Choose this for a smaller compression ratio, resulting in a larger final file size.

Click the "Overwrite Original Image" button at the Bottom of the panel to apply the colorization and update the image in your document.
