What are footnotes in WPS Writer?
Footnotes are usually inserted at the bottom of a document page. It is commonly used in dissertations, essays, publication, etc.
Footnotes are used when authors need to annotate textual details or mark textual references to citations.
One or more footnotes may appear in a single article.

Footnote is usually inserted at the bottom of a page. It is commonly used in dissertation, essays, publication, etc. An example of footnote is presented below.
To insert a footnote, you just need to follow these few steps.
1. Place the mouse cursor where you want to insert the footnote.
2. Get into the References tab → Click Settings → choose Footnote/Endnote

In the Footnote and Endnote popup dialog, you can access different settings for the footnote. You can read the illustrations and explanations of each settings at the end of this article.
3. Click Insert.
Then we can see a numbering mark inserted at the upper-right corner of the selected text, while the corresponding footnote are placed at the bottom of the page (Note: the footnotes is editable).

Change the location of footnotes. Here are two options: [Below text] and [Bottom of Page].
Here you can choose from various numbering styles.
This setting will change the format of not only the number placed at beginning of footnotes, but also the footnote marks inserted at the upper-right corner of the corresponding text.
To decide the number which you want to start numbering from. This setting will be applied within the selected range.
Three options are provided, including [Continuous], [Restart each section], and [Restart each page].
Apply changes to:
Choose from either [Selected text] or [Whole document].
