When you are writing any document, sometimes you need to find specific words or sentences so that you may remove it or change it as required. If you start searching manually, it will waste a lot of time. So how do you search a word on a page?
This how-to tutorial will answer how do you search a word on a page. The tutorial will elaborate on various steps to search the words or even sentences within the document
Using Find and Replace option
1. Open your existing document in which you want to search for the word.
2. Go to the Home tab and click it
3. Now go to the Find and Replace button.
4. Click it to see a drop down menu
5. Select Find from it
6. A dialogue box will appear
7. Now in the Find What field, type the word you wish to search. For this example, the word “scrambled” is searched.
8. Now go the Reading Highlight button.
9. Click it to see the options and select Highlight All option. This will highlight the word you wish to search.
10. Now click on Find Next button
11. As you can see the word required to search is highlighted on the 1st page.
Search a word on a page occuring multiple times
1. This method is useful if you wish to search the same word that comes in various locations within the document
To find it, agian open your required document
2. Click the Home tab on the ribbon panel
3. Click Find and Replace button.
4. Click it to view options in the drop down menu
5. Hit the Find button
6. A dialogue box appears
7. Type the word you need to search in the Find What field. For tutorial, the word “page” is searched.
8. Now go the Reading Highlight button.
9. Click it to see the options and select Highlight All option. This will highlight the word you wish to search.
10. Now click on Find Next button
11. As you can see the word “page is highlighted thorughout the document.
12. If you again click Find Next, the 2nd word “page” will be highlighted, if you click Find Next again, the 3rd time the word “page” will be highlighted, and so on.
Shortcut to search a word on a page
1. There is also a shortcut avaialble for searching any word or sentence in the document. Here is how to do it:
open the document you want to search any word within
2. On your keyboard, hit Ctrl+F key. The Find and Replace dialogue box will open.
From here, the process will is same and you can either find word that occurs in the document once or multiple times.
