The rounding function rounds value at left side upto 1-4 while on the right side, 5-9. Once your read the complete article, you will know how to use rounding function in excel.
Use round function with formula upto three digits after decimal (right side)
1. This example represents a test case which will be used throughout the whole guide so that you get better understanding how function works in similar condition but different functionality options.
2. Click the cell where you want to use round function.
3. Click Formula tab. The options under this tab opens.
4. Click on Math and Trig. This opens a drop down menu.
5. Locate and click Round option.
6. A the Round function dialogue box appears.
7. Click the arrow next to the Number field.
8. Now click the cell to round. In this case the cell F8 is clicked. Notice the function bar catches the cell reference.
9. Now hit Enter. You will see the field specifies the desired cell to round.
10. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at three places to the right, simply type “3”
11. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to three decimal places.
Use round function upto two digits after decimal (right side)
1. Redo the entire procedure for S. No 2 untill you come to this point.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at two places to the right, simply type “2”
3. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to two decimal places.
Use round function upto one digit after decimal (right side)
1. Redo the same process for S. No 3 till you reach here.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at one places to the right, simply type “1”
3. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to one decimal places.
Use round function completely without digits after decimal
1. For S. No 4 repeat the same steps till you come here.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at zero places to the right, simply type “0”
3. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to zero decimal places and changes to whole number.
Use round function upto 1 digit before decimal (left side)
1. Repeat same for S. No 5 till your window looks like this.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at one places to the left, simply type “-1”
3. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to one decimal places at left side of value.
Use round function upto 2 digits before decimal (left side)
1. Repeat the same process for value at S. No 6 untill you reach to the point of deciding how much places you want to round as shown. Now follow below steps.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at two places to the left, simply type “-2”
3. Now press Enter. You see the number 23318.06679 is rounded to two decimal places at left side of value.

1. Repeat the same process for value at S. No 7 untill you reach to the point of deciding how much places you want to round as shown. Now follow below steps.
2. Now click on the arrow next to Num_digits field. To round value at three places to the left, simply type “-3”
