There are two ways to add a header in excel. Using a feature in the Insert tab is one technique to add a header in Excel. Use this technique if you want to add a header to a particular worksheet. The Page Setup dialogue box in Excel may also be used to insert a header. If you wish to add a header to several worksheets at once, use this technique.

How to insert a header in single worksheet in excel online, 2016 and 2019

1.To add a header to your single worksheet in Excel, first, open your spreadsheet with WPSExcel.

  1. Click the worksheet where you wish to put a header at the bottom of your spreadsheet.

  1. Click the Insert tab on the top ribbon of Excel.

  1. Click Text > Header & Footer under the Insert menu.

  1. The appearance of your worksheet will alter right away, and you can now begin creating your header.

You may define the contents of the left, centre, and right sections at the start of your worksheet. Add your header material by clicking on each area. Click anywhere outside the header section to end altering the header.

  1. Use the Different First Page and Different Odd & Even Pages choices at the top if you'd like a different header for the first page or different headers for the odd and even pages.

  1. Click View > Normal on the top ribbon to return to Excel's normal viewing mode.

How to add a header on multiple worksheets in excel

  1. Launch your spreadsheet with multiple worksheets in Excel first to add a heading to all of the worksheets at once.

  2. Choose the worksheets you wish to add a header to at the bottom of the spreadsheet. To accomplish this, click each spreadsheet tab while holding down the Shift key.

  1. Click the Page Layout tab on Excel's ribbon while your worksheets are chosen.

  1. Click the arrow icon in the Page Setup section's bottom-right corner on the Page Layout tab.

  1. Click the Header/Footer tab on the Page Setup dialogue box.

  1. Click the Custom Header button to enter a custom header.

  1. It will open a Header box. Select the header material for each area by clicking the left, centre, and right sections here. Click the relevant buttons to add dynamic elements like page numbers and dates.

  2. Click ok when you are finished.

The Page Setup window will appear once again. To add your unique heading to your worksheets, click OK below.

Your desired custom header is now present on your chosen worksheets. Enjoy making your spreadsheets' tops unique!
