What does Value mean in excel and Three different reasons for Value in output cell of excel with possible solutions.

Getting #value in excel while using formulas and performing calculations is quite a common occurring. This can be due to a number of reasons. Three of such reasons along with possible solutions are mentioned in the following sections

## 1.1 Getting #Value in excel due to Space string in empty cell in data.

One of the reasons of getting #value in excel output cell is that the data cells from where your formula is taking input values which appears empty contains a space string. This is one of the most common reasons of getting #value in your results in excel. While you are entering data in different cells there is a probability that you enter a space string instead of no value in one of the cells and now when you are taking data from that range using an excel function then the instead of showing the result excel shows # value instead.

### Solution:

Proposed solution for this problem is to lookout your data manually and see if there is an empty cell and check if it is really empty or contains a space string in your data and you remove that space string. Try this and you’ll have your problem solved quite easily.

## 1.2 Getting #Value in excel due to present of text string instead of numeric value in data.

Another reason for getting #value in the output cells is due to presence of text string present instead of numeric value in data. It is quite common that in a range while entering data if some values are not applicable we usually enter “N/A” in the cells. Now when we select the whole range to be used in calculations then instead of getting proper result we might get #value instead. Similarly while entering data in numeric input cells , one might put text strings too by mistake. This produces the same error again.

### Solution:

Proposed solution for this problem is to lookout your data manually and see if there is a text string in your data and then enter the correct numeric data in it. Try this and you’ll have your problem solved quite easily.

## 1.3 Getting #Value in excel due to improper date format.

Lastly when you are using a function that takes input in the form of dates and instead of entering date in correct format you accidently input date in an improper format then this error can also arise and you may be getting #value instead of required result.

### Solution:

Proposed solution for this problem is to lookout your data manually and see if there is an improper date format used in your data and you correct it according to required format of excel. Try this and you’ll have your problem solved quite easily.
