How to use Merge Shapes in WPS Presentation

Merge Shapes is an important function in WPS Presentation. By using it skillfully, you can also create slides that have a strong sense of design.

In short, based on the Boolean operation, Merge Shapes is the process of adding and subtracting two or more graphics.

Select two or more graphics on the slide, and click the Drawing Tool tab and the Merge Shapes drop-down button.

In the drop-down menu, we can see there are five options. They are Union, Combine, Fragment, Intersect and Subtract.

Next, I will introduce the usage and features of these five functions respectively to you.

· 1. Union

Union is to unite the selected graphics into a whole.

· 2. Combine

Combine refers to retaining the non-common parts between the selected shapes.

· 3. Intersect

Intersect refers to retaining the common parts between the selected shapes.

· 4. Fragment

Fragment is to split the selected graphics into several components.

· 5. Subtract

Subtract is to use a shape to crop the other one. The part of the first selected shape remains that does not overlap with the shape selected later.

Tips: The graphic obtained by Merge Shapes is the same as the style of the first selected graphic. For example: color, outline and so on. So, in practice, we need to decide the order in which the graphics are selected based on the actual requirements.

Using the five methods of merging graphics, we can create a variety of icons.

In addition to merging shapes, Merge Shapes can be also applied to text and pictures. Here are some common scenarios.

1. Use the Merge Shapes function to crop pictures

Insert a shape in the slide, and then drag the shape to the place where the picture needs to be cropped.

First, select the picture, and then select the shape. Click Merge Shapes, and then click Intersect.

2. Use the Merge Shapes function to create the WordArt

Select the text box, and drag the text box onto the picture. First, select the picture, and then click the text box. Finally, select Intersect in Merge Shapes.

What a practical feature! Did you get it?
