Add days to excel date (3 Easy Steps)
A free Office suite fully compatible with Microsoft Office

You could have encountered circumstances where you wanted to extend a date by a specific number of days. Let's say your business only permits you to send an ordered item out for delivery after a specific number of days. Alternatively, you may have a payroll system that only permits you to distribute a person's paycheck following a certain security period. As a result, you will need to determine the date that each employee's salary will be sent and record it in a different column. It is impossible to manually determine the delivery date for each row of your data in these instances. Thankfully, WPS Excel has offered a simple method for you to add a particular number of days to a date.
These are the three methods for adding days to a date in Excel.
Adding days to excel date by value online, 2016 and 2019
We will use the dataset displayed below for this tutorial:
Let's imagine each date in column A has to have a specified number of days (let's say 15 days) added to it. The result of the addition should be stored in column H.
1. Choose the first cell in the column where you wish to keep the outcome (in our example, cell H2).
2. Select the first cell in the column containing the dates you wish to add days to, then type =, then click OK (cell A2).
3. Put a plus sign (+) after the number of days you wish to add. Therefore, enter +15 in the same field to add 15 days. This indicates that the formula =A2+15 should be in your cell H2.
4. On your keyboard, hit the Return key. The date in cell A2 will reflect the outcome of adding 15 days.
5. Simply slide down the fill handle (located at the bottom right of column H2) to replicate the formula to all the rows of Column H since you want the same amount of days to be added to each date in Column A.
Adding days to excel date from a cell location
You can enter the number of days you need to add to each row in a separate column if you need to add a different number of days to each date (as shown below).
1. Choose the first cell in the column where you wish to keep the outcome (in our example, cell I2).
2. Select the first cell in the column containing the dates you wish to add days to, then type =, then click OK (cell A2).
3. Next type +.
4. Then, choose the first cell in the column that contains the number of additional days (in our case, cell H2). This indicates that the formula =A2+H2 should be in your cell I2.
5. On your keyboard, hit the Return key. The outcome is obtained by multiplying the date in cell A2 by the number of days in cell H2.
6. To duplicate the formula to each row in Column I, drag down the fill handle (located at the bottom right of cell I2). For each row, this will add the cell in column H to the cell in column A.
Adding days to excel using the current date
In conclusion, the following is what you need to do, depending on when you open the file, if you want to add a specified number of days (say, 15 days) to the current date:
1. Choose the cell where you wish to save the outcome.
2. The equation is =TODAY() + 15. The current date, formatted as Date, is returned by the TODAY() function. There are no requirements.
3. On your keyboard, hit the Return key. The outcome will be the same as if you had added 15 days to the present date.
Thus, the cell will always show the date 15 days later no matter when you access the Excel file.
