Blank OneNote pages and “Content not yet available” can indicate an incomplete sync, the wrong account or notebook, or damaged cloud content. Protect every possible copy first: do not sign out, delete the app, close notebooks, or overwrite blank pages until the web version and recovery locations are checked.
Freeze the Notebook State Before Troubleshooting
Put any device that may still show the notes into airplane mode and take screenshots or export visible pages. Record the signed-in Microsoft account and notebook name on the iPad. Reinstalling OneNote too early can remove the remaining local cache.
Search the Cloud and OneNote Recovery Locations

- Sign in to OneNote for the web with the same account and open the notebook from OneDrive. Check whether the pages contain content there.
- Search all notebooks and sections, including misfiled pages, recently opened notebooks, and similarly named course notebooks.
- Review Deleted Notes or the notebook recycle bin where available, and inspect page versions from a desktop OneNote app if the command is offered.
- If many OneDrive files changed or became corrupted and the account is eligible, use OneDrive restore or version history carefully. Preview the recovery point before rolling back unrelated files.
Check Every Device for an Unsynced Copy
Open other phones, tablets, Macs, or PCs offline before OneNote synchronizes them. If a device still contains the missing content, copy it to a new local document or export pages before reconnecting.
When Recovery May Not Be Possible
If the cloud notebook contains blank pages, no version or recycle-bin copy exists, and no device retains an offline cache, the content may be unrecoverable. A new Microsoft 365 subscription does not retroactively create backups that were never stored.
Use WPS Office to Preserve Recovered OneNote Exports
WPS Office cannot restore Microsoft OneNote cloud data, notebook versions, or a missing synchronization cache.
After exporting recovered notes to DOCX or PDF, WPS Office offers a free, lightweight workspace with a familiar interface, Writer, PDF tools, and WPS AI assistance for organizing and summarizing the saved material. Keep the original exports unchanged and verify embedded ink, links, audio, and layout before editing a copy.

Recover Missing OneNote Notes on iPad FAQs
Should I delete and reinstall OneNote when pages are blank?
Not before checking the web notebook and other devices. Reinstalling can remove a local cache that may contain the only remaining copy.
Will subscribing to Microsoft 365 now recover older missing notes?
No. A new subscription cannot recreate data that was not stored in an available OneDrive version or backup.
What does “Content not yet available” usually mean?
The page content has not downloaded, the app cannot reach the correct cloud copy, or the synchronized content is unavailable. Check the same page on the web.
Can OneDrive restore roll back only one OneNote page?
OneDrive restore affects a broader time-based state. Prefer notebook recycle bins, page versions, or file version history when they can target the missing content more precisely.
