Verify that you are using Planner Premium (formerly Project for the Web), as it uses different data fields and interface behaviors compared to Planner Basic.
Use the % Complete Column Instead
Since Planner Premium does not include a direct Progress column in the workplan interface, you should use the % Complete column to track task status.
Planner Premium replaces the traditional Progress column found in basic versions with a more granular tracking method. The core progress data still exists, but it is represented differently in the workplan grid.
Navigate to your project in Planner Premium and switch to the Grid view tab.
Click on the 'Add column' option at the top right of the task grid header.
Choose '% Complete' from the dropdown list. You can now use this column to update and track the exact completion percentage of your tasks.
Update Task Progress via My Tasks
If you need to view or edit the progress status directly without relying on the grid view columns, you can do so through the My Tasks section.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Planner Premium the exact same as Planner Basic?
No. Planner Premium is built on the Project for the Web framework, offering advanced project management tools. It handles task metadata, such as the Progress column, differently than Planner Basic.
Why do my filters disappear when I reopen my project in Planner Premium?
Filters resetting is the default behavior in Planner Premium. Applied filters do not persist after you leave and reopen a project, so you must configure them again for each new session.
Can I still group my tasks by progress even if the column is missing?
Yes. Even though the direct Progress column is unavailable in the workplan grid, the underlying progress metadata still exists. You can continue to use the 'Group by' and 'Filter' tools to organize your tasks based on their current progress status.
