Scenario
Managing community layouts and default resource links in a Viva Engage environment.
Observed behavior

Solution 1Recommended

Submit a Feature Request to Microsoft

Currently, Viva Engage does not provide a built-in option to remove or hide the Community Resources section. The only official path is to submit feedback requesting this feature.

Because Viva Engage communities are tightly integrated with Microsoft 365 groups, a default SharePoint site is automatically provisioned and linked in the Community Resources section. There is currently no administrative toggle to hide this UI element.

1
Open the Help menu

Navigate to your Viva Engage portal and click on the Help (?) icon located in the top navigation bar.

2
Access the feedback portal

Select the 'Feedback' option from the dropdown menu to open the Microsoft Feedback portal.

3
Detail your request

Choose 'I have a suggestion' and clearly state that your organization requires the ability to disable or hide the default Community Resources section to prevent user confusion with existing SharePoint sites.

4
Submit the feedback

Click 'Submit' to send your request directly to the Microsoft Viva Engage product team for future consideration.

Current Limitation: Even Microsoft 365 Global Administrators cannot remove this section via the Admin Center or PowerShell. The link will remain visible until Microsoft introduces an update to change this behavior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit the URL of the default SharePoint link in Community Resources?

No. The Community Resources section is hardcoded to link directly to the SharePoint site that was automatically provisioned alongside the Microsoft 365 group for that specific Viva Engage community.

What happens if I delete the connected SharePoint site?

Deleting the automatically generated SharePoint site is highly discouraged. Doing so will break underlying Microsoft 365 group functionalities, and the Community Resources link may still appear, leading users to a 404 error page.

Is there a PowerShell script to hide the Community Resources panel?

There are currently no PowerShell cmdlets or Microsoft Graph API endpoints available that allow administrators to toggle the visibility of the Community Resources panel in Viva Engage.
