Remove a File from Your Shared List as a Recipient
Use this method if someone shared a file with you and you no longer want to see it in your OneDrive Shared tab.
As a recipient, you do not have the necessary permissions to permanently delete the file from the cloud. However, you can easily declutter your workspace by hiding or removing the file from your personal Shared list.
Locate and tap the OneDrive app icon on your iPhone or iPad to open it.
Tap the 'Shared' icon located at the bottom navigation bar to view all files and folders shared with you.
Find the specific file you want to remove, then tap the three-dot menu icon (...) next to the file name.
Select 'Remove from shared list' from the pop-up menu. The file will disappear from your view.

Stop Sharing a File as the Owner
If you are the owner of the file and want to remove it for everyone, you must revoke access permissions.
Manage and Edit Your Documents Seamlessly with WPS Office
While OneDrive handles your cloud storage, WPS Office offers a free, lightweight, and highly compatible alternative to Microsoft Office for opening, editing, and sharing your documents on any iOS device.
- 1. Download WPS Office: Search for WPS Office in the Apple App Store and install the free application.
- 2. Connect Your Cloud: Open WPS Office, navigate to the Cloud tab, and link your preferred cloud storage to access your documents.
- 3. Edit and Share: Tap on any document to start editing with full compatibility, and easily share it with collaborators.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does removing a shared file delete it for the owner?
No. When you choose 'Remove from shared list' on your iPhone or iPad, it only hides the file from your personal view. The original document remains perfectly safe in the owner's OneDrive account.
Can I recover a shared file I accidentally removed?
Once you remove a file from your Shared list, it cannot be undone from your end. You will need to ask the owner of the file to send you the sharing link again so you can regain access.
Why is there no 'Delete' button for files in my Shared tab?
Because you do not own the file, OneDrive prevents you from deleting it to protect the owner's data. You are only given the option to 'Remove from shared list' to manage your own workspace.
