Scenario: Verifying the validity period and renewal requirements for an MOS certification obtained in 2025.
Observed behavior: Certifications managed through Certiport have different expiration and renewal rules compared to Microsoft role-based certifications managed via Microsoft Learn.

Solution 1Recommended

Verify Certiport MOS Expiration and Renewal Policies

Understand the differences between Certiport and Microsoft Learn policies to determine your certification's validity.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications are primarily managed by Certiport, which dictates their specific validity and expiration rules. These rules are distinct from Microsoft's role-based credentials.

Confirm MOS Certification Validity

Note that a Microsoft Office Specialist Associate certification earned through Certiport in 2025 generally remains valid under their current policy and does not require an annual renewal.

Distinguish from Microsoft Learn

Understand that you do not need to renew this certification annually through Microsoft Learn. Currently, Certiport profiles and Microsoft Learn profiles cannot be linked.

Check the Official Certiport Policy Page

To ensure you have the most up-to-date information for newer credentials, navigate to the Certiport website and review the Certification Expiration page under their Educator Resources and Exam Policies section.

Verify Certiport MOS Expiration and Renewal Policies

Profile Linking: Because Certiport and Microsoft Learn operate independently for MOS exams, your MOS credential will not appear in the Microsoft Learn renewal dashboard.
