How to Link to a SharePoint Site Page from Quick Links
Product
Microsoft SharePoint
Device & OS
not provided
Scenario
Adding internal site links to a SharePoint interface via the Quick Links web part.
Observed behavior
The SharePoint Quick Links site picker displays Documents and Site Assets, but omits the Site Pages library, preventing direct selection of site pages.
Before you start

Ensure you have edit permissions for the SharePoint page where the Quick Links web part is located, and have the target Site Page URL copied to your clipboard.

Solution 1Recommended

Use the 'From a link' Option to Add the Site Page

Since the Site Pages library is deliberately excluded from the site picker due to sync limitations, you can manually paste the page's URL as the official workaround.

Microsoft designed the Site tab picker to only list document libraries that can be synchronized. Because Site Pages is a specialized pages library without a Sync button, it does not appear in the default picker interface. Using a direct link bypasses this interface limitation.

1
Copy the target URL

Open the target SharePoint Site Page in your web browser and copy its full URL from the address bar.

2
Edit the SharePoint page

Navigate back to the SharePoint page containing your Quick Links web part and click 'Edit' in the top right corner.

3
Add a new link

Click 'Add links' within the Quick Links web part to open the selection menu.

4
Select 'From a link'

In the left-hand menu of the picker window, choose 'From a link' instead of 'Site'.

5
Paste and publish

Paste the copied URL into the link box, click 'Add', and then click 'Republish' on your SharePoint page to save the changes.

Use the 'From a link' Option to Add the Site Page
Expected Behavior: This is a known limitation by Microsoft and is functioning as designed. Manual URL linking is the officially supported workaround for adding Site Pages to Quick Links.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't the Site Pages library appear in the Quick Links picker?

The Site tab in the Quick Links picker only displays document libraries that support folder synchronization. Since Site Pages is a specialized pages library and lacks a Sync button, Microsoft intentionally omits it from the picker.

Can I change a SharePoint setting to show Site Pages in Quick Links natively?

No, there is currently no native SharePoint setting or admin toggle to force the Site Pages library to appear in the default site picker. You must use the 'From a link' option.

Will links added via URL break if the Site Page is renamed?

Yes, if the target Site Page's URL is changed or the page is moved to a different directory, the hardcoded URL pasted into the Quick Links web part may break. You will need to manually edit the web part to update the link.
